The Rebel Doc isn’t a marketing department’s idea of edgy. It’s what’s left when a physician stops swallowing the company line.

I’m a practicing primary care physician. I went into medicine to take care of people, and I stayed in primary care because it’s the hardest, most consequential work in the building. Somewhere along the way, the system decided that work wasn’t worth much—and most of us stayed quiet about it. This is me not staying quiet.

Why this exists

Primary care is being dismantled in slow motion—by private equity, by administrators who turned “physician” into “provider,” by a payment system that rewards procedures over thinking, and by a profession too polite to object. The Rebel Doc is where that gets said plainly. No sponsors to keep happy, no committee to water it down.

What you’ll find here

Unfiltered commentary on the state of primary care and the forces hollowing it out. Direct Primary Care as a way back to medicine that makes sense. The occasional eulogy. Some of it will make you uncomfortable—good. Comfortable hasn’t gotten us anywhere.

Why there’s no name on the door

Because honesty and an institutional badge don’t always coexist peacefully. Writing under a pseudonym isn’t about hiding—it’s about being able to say the true thing without it becoming a personnel matter. Judge the argument, not the byline.
